Important Modifier, There

It's not the End of the World - just humanity.

The world, the planet, will go on.  Having been ill, infected with a nasty bug, Her fever will spike, remain up there long enough to eradicate the nasty little hominid bacteria - no more than a restless, delirious night in geological terms.  She'll regain Her strength, slowly - pulling new nutrition from the cosmic winds, radiation, space dust, and soon the original Magna Mater will be just fine.  Some of the friendly, helpful little "bugs" on Her surface will have remained, breathing, recycling, regenerating, and others will come, slowly, slowly . . . perhaps, in time, a curious little primate with some precocious qualities and rudimentary tool-using abilities.  Maybe that little bacterial strain will be wise enough to remain beneficial to Her, and to one another, this time, because who knows how many times, in vast kalpas this has happened;  arising, proliferating, failing utterly to build a beneficial colony, dying as the Great Body on which they depend defends itself.

Sad the realizing comes so late, too late.  Pity we can't leave word for the next "masters of the earth" (LOL) - we could try, but how many billions of years would the testament have to last?  Maybe it has to wait until sun fries, collapses, rebirths, and glows just right again - maybe even for Earth to reform Herself.

It's just the end of the world, as we know it.  I'm fine with that.

But Wait . . . There's More!

AUGUST 18

I'm not angry;  I'm frustrated and disappointed.

I have, really, only  two people who engage with me when I speak or write.  One is my real-life best friend, the other someone on the opposite side in most issues.  It's saddening on a personal level, actually.

The responses I usually get are either condescending approbation or outraged censure, occasionally intellectual posturing through gainsaying.  Mostly, however, I'm simply ignored.  Not even there.  Rarely is there any sign that what I've actually said or written was taken into account, there's no discussion of it, even so much as a refutation.  Sometimes I have to go look in the mirror just to make sure I'm still there!

Here's the thing, though:  I'm a 43 year old man with a fair degree of intelligence and insight.  It's taken me a long time to get to the point I can admit that about myself, to accept my intelligence and insight, and even longer to believe I had the right to express it in public -- it's been hard won, not a given.  What I'm not, is a precociously-intelligent child, or a naughty puppy or some tottering mental invalid.  I never even get so much human recognition as "How are you?"  "What are you working on?" "Are you still alive?"

I had thought that, as many times as I've been proven right over time, I might at least get some degree of discussion, rather than being shut down or dismissed.  It's ridiculous, and I feel dirty that this even bothers me, but it does.  It would be nice to be acknowledged, rather than humored like some idiot.  It would be agreeable, even, to have the fact that I might get my feelings hurt by being treated like a dog who's messed the carpet taken into account.

I'm just frustrated, and disappointed.

I Hope It Takes

Preserves for Libertarian Ideals.

Favorite quote:

"And they will not actually try to stop us until it's too late."

Stop them?  Wave them off from the dock!

I've said, all along that these people are not fully human beings, rather they are precocious chimpanzees.  An ape can learn to use sign language, but you do not elect it to Congress or allow it to sway your economy.  This way, they have their "habitats" their "preserves," where they are safe from us, and we from them.

God speed!

(Black-humored)FUN WITH HEADLINES!!!

I saw this on The Lead:

POTUS moves to improve response to atrocities

My immediate thought was a quote to follow underneath:

"We'll cave to pressure from dictators quicker and more efficiently than we did with the Tea Party!" Obama promises.

This Is Bizarre

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/actor-matt-damon-defends-teacher-tenure-testy-exchange-211042801.html

I don't care that Matt Damon has one view or another, anymore than I care that any other citizen does.   I imagine he has as little understanding of the teaching profession as the dimbo interviewing him, or the moron with a camera ("Where'd you get that number?"  "I dunno.").

What was absolutely mind-twisting is that it comes from something called Libertarian Reason.

"Libertarian" and "reason" are mutually exclusive; polar opposites.

I so look forward to spading in the ashes of the USA into my garden after the revolutionaries murder each other.
